Classroom Lessons

One of the primary goals at Exploration Universe is to augment science lessons being taught in the class room. We will work closely with teachers to develop a lesson that best enhances what is currently being taught in the classroom. We can teach the lesson in the classroom, create a hands on workshop for the kids or , ultimately, do both. This includes following the Next Generation Science Standard or Core Knowledge.

After School Workshops

Our after school workshops are designed to be educational and fun. We emphasize subjects that are age appropriate, but also go a little beyond to challenge the students. These workshops are split into students in Kinder through 2nd grade, 3rd through 5th grade and 6th through 8th grade. This allows us to create educational experiences that are at the appropriate level for all students in the class. Each workshop contains a short lesson of about 10 minutes to discuss the days subject, then the rest of the time is spent on experiments and discussions of results. Each student also receives a laminated science card that provides facts about the days subjects and information about a pertinent scientist. These workshops generally run from 1 hour to 1 1/4 hours.

Sessions at Child Care Centers

We have developed some special sessions that are appropriate for children from the age of 2 years old through 6 years old. These are fun introductions to some simple science ideas like circuits, dry ice tricks, sound and static electricity. The sessions usually work best with about 10 to 15 students roughly separated by age ranges. Each session runs about 20 to 30 minutes, but can go longer.
